25 Favourite Walks in West Surrey and Sussex 25 Favourite Walks in West Surrey and Sussex Ref: X000160
South West Surrey and West Sussex offer a perfect setting for walkers.

Steeped in history, when hiking in this area you can pass through Iron Age and Roman settlements, follow the footsteps of Chaucer's pilgrims, and partake of a more recent tradition at one of the many country pubs on route.

The counties offer a diverse range of landscapes to suit all tastes, from lakes and downland to wild heath and weald.

Aldous Huxley captures the variety of flora in the area in Brave New World "The woods, the open stretches of heather and yellow gorse, the clumps of Scotch firs, the shining ponds with their overhanging birch trees, their water lilies, their beds of rushes - these were beautiful."

25 Favourite Walks is a compilation of the best-loved walks of members of the Godalming and Haslemere Group of the Ramblers Association.

The book is an expanded and updated version of the group's highly successful 21st birthday edition - 21 Favourite Walks.

The book describes in detail 25 circular walks from 2.5 to 16.25 miles ranging from the North Downs in Surrey to the South Downs in Sussex, with many of the walks offering longer and shorter versions making a total of 45 different options.
