Cram The Lewis Non-Illuminated Antique World Globe 40cm Cram The Lewis Non-Illuminated Antique World Globe 40cm Ref: GBE104
Height 97cm (38 inches)

Some simple assembly required.

Tall floor standing antique style globe, with clean lines of a central grooved column and a square base with chamfered edges in cherry wood colour.

With metal full swing meridian, that allows the globe to be turned over and rotated.

Up to date cartography, feint raised relief over mountain ranges and relief printing.

Booklet included.

The major mountain ranges are in raised relief, relative to the size of the globe. This means that the mountains can appear to be just slight bumps or imperfections on the surface of the globe, and are not as pronounced as some raised relief single wall maps of much smaller areas (such as the French Alps) you may have already seen.

These fibreboard globes are hand pasted over a "shell" mould and the map is placed over the shell with the gores forming a star with no points, but wider at the ends to match the circumference of the equator.

This half shell with map is placed in a heated mould to adhere the glue to shell and map. Occasionally there may be a slight fold in the map as the gores are pressed down - this does not indicate a faulty globe, it is just the way it is hand made.

The maps have relief print for all mountainous areas to enhance the mountain ranges.

There are over 4,000 place names (eg. New York counts as one name) and are all up to date.

Cartography is digital on all but the physical globe, which gives greater clarity to the print. The physical globe has new enhanced colouring.

All globes have longitude and latitude lines, frequently avoided by other manufacturers as it is extremely difficult to have these lines always and completely lined up on a world globe.

Cram globes are the only globes that include the traditional Analemma diagram showing how the earth moves in relation to the sun for every day of the year with an Equation of Time showing the difference between mean solar time and solar time.
