The Muir Woods are well known for their giant coastal Redwood trees but, higher up, the valley sides are dominated by bay trees. These have an amazing, intoxicating aroma, and it's well worth taking the longer and hillier Ocean View Trail to experience it. As the trail name suggests, you also get superb views every so often where the forest thins."
