Trekking in the Vosges and Jura (Cicerone)
Ref: CIC205
In this lesser known corner of France lie the tranquil wooded hills of the northern Vosges, where a multitude of castle ruins await exploration. Further south are rolling grassy summits and the attractive villages of Alsace. South again, the Jura's limestone massif is cut by spectacular river gorges. These mountains, with their network of waymarked paths, provide a wealth of opportunities for the walker. The guide describes a long-distance route (672km, 418 miles) through the Vosges and Jura from the German border in the north to Lake Geneva in the south, much of it along the GR5. It also suggests circular walks on sections of the GR5 as well as ideas for shorter walks in the region, and gives information on other long-distance routes.
- Useful for those exploring the region by short excursions or long-distance trails - All routes illustrated with clear mapping and photographs
