A-Z Isle of Wight Visitors' Atlas and Guide

This full colour atlas combines large scale road mapping (1.5 inches to 1 mile) with an illustrated town plan section to provide an informative tourist guide. The coverage of the map extends to include East Cowes, Whippingham, Ryde, Seaview, Bembridge, Sandown, Shanklin, Ventnor, Niton, Freshwater, Totland, Newtown, Newport and Cowes. The introductory pages provide a brief history of the island and this is followed by travel and transport information including ferry links and transport around the island itself. The pages of road mapping that follow are annotated with tourist information, but there is more detailed information to be found in the town plan section. Town plans of Bembridge, Brading, Cowes, Newport, Ryde, Sandown, Seaview, Shanklin, St. Helens, Totland and Freshwater, Yarmouth and Ventnor are featured and these correlate to the standard A-Z street plan specifications. Along with each town plan is text relating to the general history of the area together with listings of places of interest, sport and leisure facilities and entertainment venues. Where appropriate telephone numbers have been added and each town plan has a separate index listing that appears adjacent to the mapping. The town plan section of this publication is interspersed with numerous colour photographs of local scenes and features. Also featured on page 24 is a gazetteer listing camping and caravan sites together with addresses and telephone numbers.
The guide to places of interest that follows the town plan section is preceded by a list of tourist information centres and telephone numbers. The places of interest guide is documented alphabetically and each entry is given its page number and town plan reference square. On the outside back cover of the atlas there is a road map extract giving an overview of the island and its surrounding environs.
